  • Mia

    DSP (Direct Support Professional)

I used to be a professional woman. After getting married, I moved to the United States and opened my own restaurant. When my child was 8 months old, she was diagnosed with epilepsy caused by a genetic mutation. At that time, my husband was not around, so I had to search for treatment on my own. Eventually, when she was five and a half, her health became just like any other healthy child. During those five and a half years, I never had a full night’s sleep and kept a detailed record of her progress every day.

In 2018, I returned to the U.S. from China and started caring for my child full-time. Through that experience, I came into contact with people with special needs. I understand that caring for them requires more time and patience than usual, and I’ve gained professional knowledge in areas like first aid and nursing. Therefore, I have a strong desire to help more families so their children can receive the best possible care.

  • Tenaya Smith

    DSP Lead

I am reaching out to provide you with an overview of my extensive experience working with individuals with various disabilities and mental health issues for over a decade. Having dedicated more than 10 years to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, challenging behaviors, nonverbal communication needs, dementia, and those with mobility constraints, I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills in this field. Recently, I made a relocation from Las Vegas to Stone Mountain, and in my previous role as a Program Director, I managed and supervised four homes catering to individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges, overseeing their daily care and well-being. In addition to my responsibilities as a Program Director, I also actively participated in supporting our Day Program, where I played a critical role in coordinating activities and providing a nurturing environment for the individuals under our care. It has been immensely fulfilling to contribute to the growth and quality of life of these individuals, ensuring that they receive the essential support they need to thrive. My passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities stems from a deep-rooted belief in the importance of empathy, care, and advocacy. I find great satisfaction in being able to demonstrate to these individuals that they are valued, supported, and cared for by dedicated professionals who are committed to their well-being.
